Description

Illustrations done using Derwent art products during an event in December 2019.
This series of works was inspired by a speech I heard during my graduation ceremony, and I have yet to complete the final piece in the sequence.
" Life is like reading a book. As you read it, you realise, there are more pages on one side than the other, and you'd feel that you're coming to the end, because you feel the fewer pages.

Description
"Fantasy" is a lens through which I view and contextualise my surroundings. My works explore different ideas of fantasy and its place in my life as a coping mechanism of escape or an unrealised goal. Influenced by Romanticism, feelings of hope, fear and wonder of the unknown resonate in my portrayal of imaginary landscapes, my works invite viewers to experience and reflect on similar emotions.

Illustrations follow a girl's journey from the comforts of her home into the playful landscape of a rainy day, paralleling the desires for adventure one may experience in the years of growing up - to taste freedom beyond the safe, familiar spaces we inhabit.

Description
A selection of my favourite illustrations done using Derwent Academy products, namely, the 36 Watercolour pencils set. I'm not an animal lover, but I realise that most people are attracted to vibrant depictions of animals, hence the large number of animal pieces.
I do live art and craft demonstrations with Derwent Academy art materials and Rapid hot glue guns, represented by ACCO Brands, at local events such as the annual Popular BookFest.
